The Wings will announce a two-year extension for forward Todd Bertuzzi as early as Thursday,

Bertuzzi's agent, Pat Morris, told the Free Press today that "we're working at it, and getting closer." The sides have been talking for the past month.

Bertuzzi, 37, is in the last of a two-year deal that's averaged $1,937,500. His new deal is for closer to $2.2 million a season, and is backloaded.

CHICAGO (AP) — Corey Crawford made 31 saves to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night in a matchup of Central Division rivals missing their top centers.

Jimmy Hayes scored the tying goal in the second period and set up Marcus Kruger's winning score in the third as Chicago earned its fourth consecutive victory since a nine-game losing streak.

Valtteri Filppula scored a power-play goal for NHL-leading Detroit, which had won six in a row. Jimmy Howard had 27 stops in his first action since being sidelined for two-plus weeks with a broken right index finger.

The Red Wings have re-acquired Kyle Quincey from the TB Lightning in exchange for their 1st round pick in the 2012 draft. 

Tampa had acquired Quincey from Colorado earlier in the day for forward Steve Downie. 

DET also trades minor leaguer Sebastien Piche to TB as part of the trade.
