Beyonce has revealed the name of her fourth studio album is 4. She tells Billboard, "We all have special numbers in our lives, and four is that for me. It's the day I was born. My mother's birthday and a lot of my friends' birthdays are on the fourth. April 4th is my wedding date."
It sounds like the album will have an old-school vibe. Bey says, "I started off being inspired by [Afrobeat music pioneer] Fela Kuti... I also found a lot of inspiration in '90s R&B, Earth, Wind and Fire, DeBarge, Lionel Richie, Teena Marie... I listened to a lot of Jackson 5 and New Edition, but also Adele, Florence and the Machine and Prince. I also gave myself more freedom to really belt out some songs and bring soul singing back."
-- INSTEAD, HER ATTORNEY SHAWN HOLLEY WILL ENTER THE PLEA FOR HER -- HER LAWYER AND THE NEW PROSECUTOR ON THE CASE JUST MET WITH THE JUDGE -- AND ACCORDING TO BOTH TMZ AND RADAR ONLINE, THEY DECIDED LINDSAY WOULD NOT GO TO JAIL -- INSTEAD, SHE'LL HAVE TO WEAR A MONITORING DEVICE ON HER ANKLE (SOMETHING SHE'S USED TO) FOR AS LITTLE AS TWO WEEKS -- SHE'LL ALSO GET ANOTHER YEAR'S PROBATION
Katy Perry set a Billboard Top 100 singles chart record this week (Wednesday), when she became the first artist ever to spend an entire year in the Top 10. For the past 52 weeks, starting with the release of "California Gurls" and continuing with "Teenage Dream," "Fireworks" and "E.T.," Perry has never been without at least one of those songs in the Top 10.
The hype machine for Simon Cowell's upcoming U.S. edition of "The X Factor" has really begun to crank up. But with the exception of announcing that former Island Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid had quit his label gig to join the judging panel of the fall reality singing show, we've heard nothing but rumors about who will fill in the other two chairs next to Cowell and Reid.
But in an exclusive interview with Deadline Hollywood, Cowell finally tipped his hand about the laborious process of finding the perfect panel. And wouldn't you know it, he's bringing Paula back: After both took leave of "American Idol," Cowell and good pal Paula Abdul could be reunited on "X Factor."
